This is an original 1929 photogravure of the view of Cairo, Egypt from the Mosque of Ibn Tulun. Shown is the Mosque of Sultan Hassan, constructed between 1356 and 1363. This Mosque is considered one of the masterpieces of Mamluk architecture and is featured on the Egyptian one hundred (100) pound note. The structure in the background (top right) is the Citadel.
