This is an original 1929 photogravure of the Faiyum (Fayoum, Fayum) Oasis in Egypt. This pond and ducks are near el-Lahun (El-Lahoon, Kahun, Al-Lahun, El-Lahoun), the village established by workers building the pyramid of Senusret II (Sesostris II). Also nearby is the pyramid itself, known as the Pyramid of Lahun. Photograph by Herbert Ricke.
