This is an original 1929 photogravure of a boat on the Irrawaddy River or Ayeyarwady River in Burma (Myanmar). The Irrawaddy is Burma's longest river. Rudyard Kipling's poem, "Mandalay", makes reference to the river. The photographer of this image is Dr. Martin Hürlimann of Berlin, Germany. His photographs were largely composed of cities and civilizations, and taken mostly with a Sinclair camera.
