This is an original 1929 photogravure of the Queen's Golden Monastery (Shwenandaw Kyaung) in Mandalay, Burma (Myanmar). A monk and two children stand outside the building. The monastery was built on orders from Queen Supayalat in 1885. The photographer of this image is Dr. Martin Hürlimann of Berlin, Germany. His photographs were largely composed of cities and civilizations, and taken mostly with a Sinclair camera.
