This is an original 1930 halftone print showing all of the pieces of furniture in this room are of the Biedermeier period and most of them are executed in satinwood. The flower stand is a particularly good piece. Pictures, vases and ornaments are of the eighteenth century. The white satin taffeta window draperies are in a design typical of the period and are edged with rose fringing. Loaned by Au Paradis, Inc. The second picture shows dining room furniture from an old house in Christiana, Delaware. A mahogany Sheraton table is used with painted beechwood Sheraton chairs and a bureau, desk and tilt top table of the time. The Spode china is one fo teh two first sets of this type brought to America (1820-1830), the other being owned by Girard College. Loaned by Mrs. Edward A. Brion. The last picture shows a display of rosewood furniture made in 1850 for the Chicago parlor of William H. Brown, loaned by his granddaughter.
