"Mary Pickford" This is an original 1933 sepia rotogravure portrait of the legendary silent film actress, Mary Pickford (1892-1979). Born Gladys Marie Smith, she was known as "America's Sweetheart" and "Little Mary." A child stage actor, her first screen appearance was with the Biograph Company under the direction of D. W. Griffith. Starring in such films as "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm" (1917), "Pollyanna" (1920), and "Tess of the Storm Country" (1922), she became one of the richest and most influential women in Hollywood.
