This is an original 1938 black and white wood engraving of the Per Gynt house in Lillehammer, a town in Oppland county, Norway (Norge). Per Gynt is a Norwegian fairy tale of a hunter from Kvam and his various journeys. Thornton Oakley (1881-1953) was an American illustrator known for his work with "Century," "Harper's Monthly," and "National Geographic." Oakley collaborated with his wife, Amy, while creating a series of travel books. Amy wrote the text, and Thornton illustrated.
