This is an original 1940 color print of the Philippine iron Mines in Luzon. The caption writes, "In 1939 production was 644,000 tons of ore, all of which was shipped to Japan. Because of the geographical location of the Philippines-- and the consequent freight rates-- Japan is the only customer." Photography by Fenno Jacobs. Charles Fenno Jacobs (1904-1974) was born in Waltham, Massachusetts. He had a recognized reputation as a photographer by 1941, and worked for Life Magazine as well as Fortune. He is known for the images he took during World War II as a part of Edward Steichen's Naval Aviation Photographic Unit. CONDITIONThis 71+ year old Item is rated Near Mint / Very Fine+.
