Bayou Kale is an exceptional, very versatile, nutrient-rich forage brassica. Livestock and wildlife rank it highly.   Click the “size” box to choose different weights of bags available for this product! ~~~ Benefits It has a deep taproot for loosening the hardpan and fibrous root system for controlling erosion and recycling nutrients. Its Winter hardness is excellent. This brassica also provides some nematode control, as well as other disease pathogen control. It is also excellent for bringing in beneficial insects. Planting Guide Bayou Kale prefers sandy loam. Ideal pH is between 5.8 and 6.0, so be sure to treat soil appropriately. It has an ideal soil temperature of 45 °F. The seed is best planted between , at a depth between 1/4" and 1/2 inch. It will take a total of 60 lbs. of Nitrogen to perform well, and Phosphorus and Potash should be added based on soil tests.
