Planting Guide Bayou Kale prefers sandy loam. Ideal pH is between 5.8 and 6.0, so be sure to treat soil appropriately. It has an ideal soil temperature of 45 °F. The seed is best planted between , at a depth between 1/4" and 1/2 inch. It will take a total of 60 lbs. of Nitrogen to perform well, and Phosphorus and Potash should be added based on soil tests.
