Product Description Description Sulfamethoxazole Trimethoprim (SMZ/TMP) is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections in animals. This drug is also used to treat some types of parasitic infections in small animals. That have severe liver disease or blood problems. That are dehydrated Precautions This medications should be used with caution in animals that have liver, kidney, or thyroid disease. Animals with or that have a history of kidney or bladder stones as they can be at higher risk for new stones with this drug. Animals that are old, severely sick, or debilitated (weakened, frail) Food and Drug Interactions Other drugs can interact with this medication, so be sure to tell your veterinarian and pharmacist what medications (including vitamins, supplements, or herbal therapies) you give your animal Human Warnings Humans with severe allergies to sulfa compounds should avoid handling it or wear disposable gloves when giving it; wash hands after handling any medication.   Side Effects Possible Side Effects Dogs: Reduced appetite, vomiting, loose stools (diarrhea).Cats: Reduced appetite, increased salivation after giving a dose. Horses: Mildly loose stools.
