Frank Leslie was one of the most important publishers of illustrated newspaper during the second half of the nineteenth century. His Leslie’s Illustrated Newspaper was one of the two largest weekly papers in the United States and he was also involved in a number of other publications. One of these was the Historical Register of the Centennial Exposition. This was a bound volume of text and wood engraved illustrations concerning the Centennial Exhibition held in Philadelphia in 1876. The Register covered all subjects related to the exhibition, including buildings, parades, visitors, scenes, and activities.
