Original antique print After the drawing by Nicola La Volpe (1789-1876) Kyparissos was one of Apollo's lovers, who held a tame deer like a close friend for years. When he accidentally killed the animal, he was so unhappy that he wanted to die. But Apollo convinced him to live. He transformed him into a cyprus tree (symbol for mourning). La Volpe shows the two adolescent boys (Apollo with a musicial instrument and Kyparissos with hunting lance and his friend, the deer by his feet. Very clean. The hand-coloring translucent and light.
