How Gentrol Point Source Works Gentrol Point Source is labeled as an insect growth regulator, or IGR. It contains the active ingredient hydroprene and targets the larvae and the eggs in the treated area. Hydroprene is useful in a roach prevention program in which it's important to prevent an infestation from happening. Because it's an IGR, this ingredient disrupts the life cycle of insects and stops them from being able to reproduce. It doesn't kill the insects; rather, it affects their ability to continue populating the interior. It also works on adult roaches, including other insects such as pantry pests and drain flies. It's recommended to use Gentrol Point Source as part of an integrated pest management program in conjunction with contact and residual insecticides.
