"SANCTUARY" -Photograph of crystalline citric acid found in citrus fruit

"Sanctuary" has a the luminous quality of stained glass, bright with cascading colors. Citric acid crystals were grown by evaporation on a glass microscope slide , then photographed through the microscope. Citric acid is found naturally in citrus fruits and is an antioxidant.  The crystal facets create the colors naturally by refracting transmitted white light, separating it into the colors of the spectrum.
