"Transcendence" is a photograph of dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE) crystals taken through the microscope. DMAE is an amino acid found in the brain and a precursor to the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. The crystals are formed by evaporation of a solution on a glass slide resulting in a unique pattern each time. The crystal facets create the colors naturally and the colors and image seen here are reproduced as I viewed them originally.
