Prayers at Canyon de Chelly "For almost 5,000 years Indigenous people have lived in Canyon de Chelly. The longest anyone has lived uninterrupted anywhere on the Colorado Plateau. Today, about 80 extended Navajo families have the right to use the canyon. I traveled with a Navajo artist and elder from one of those families. We planted peach trees at spider rock.
