NV Piedrasassi Vin Santo II

"The Piedrasassi Vin Santo is distinctive and delicious" -Antonio Galloni (Vinous, 94 pts.) 375ml bottle  The Piedrasassi Vin Santo is truly unlike any other wine produced in North America. It is a deeply concentrated, Sangiovese-based sweet wine. It pours from the bottle with an incredible viscosity. The aromas are deep and complex: dried cherries, roasted almonds, sweet tobacco, dusty gravel, vanilla, brown sugar, allspice, and cinnamon. On the palate the wine is rich and persistent. The finish lasts for over a minute, leaving hints of burnt orange rind, caramel, and freshly shaved nutmeg.  We recommend serving this wine after dinner with dessert — roasted chestnuts, dulce de leche ice cream, or dark chocolate — or with a ripe blue cheese.
