Pigeon Tree Dyeing Table Original Art- "Blue Bone" (2025)
Welcome back to The Dyeing Table!Every year I submerge myself in indigo, metaphorically and physically. With my indigo work now taking place only once a year, I find myself hyper-fixating on the craft and dyeing many, many pieces over a relatively short period of time. All of these pieces grace my dyeing table and leave their mark.When preparing to dye, the first thing I do is line my table with plastic wrap and then top it with a sheet of brown kraft paper. Last year was the first year that it occurred to me to frame the beauty of art created from art. My fiancée, Cara and I found this bone (a cow mandible) during our "quarantravels" back in 2020, a month-long camping trip that we took during quarantine. My mom, rest her soul, was an avid bone hunter and I so enjoyed those moments we had together looking for bones or dissecting the owl pellets that we had found.
