Don't Give Up the Ship - Classic Art Bat

As the mortally wounded Captain James Lawrence of the US frigate Chesapeake lay dying in his cabin, his crew locked in hand-to-hand combat on the quarterdeck above, he is alleged to have uttered the memorable words: “Don't give up the ship!” This cry was turned into a flag by Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry to fly over the ship in his command, the USS Lawrence, as they vanquished Royal Navy forces on  the waters of Lake Erie in 1813.
