Of a female figure, she wears a snake skirt and has a large head formed by two snakes that when joined together create a face with a forked tongue and large fangs symbolizing duality and unity. The Coatlicue monolith, with an anthropomorphic body, unites numerous symbolisms of the Mexica worldview. It was carved approximately in the year 1506 for the celebration of the New Fire in order to transmit a message of spiritual power.
