Seth Michael Carlson, "Spider"

This piece is entirely handcrafted using a variety of goldsmithing and fabrication techniques. The piece is inspired by a Banana Spider which carries a venomous bite. The spider's abdomen is made with cloisonné enamel and is in the shape of an amphora. These vessels were used to store and carry abortifacients. The spider is representative of the extreme measures that people will take to ensure bodily autonomy. Materials: 18k yellow gold, 18k white gold, sterling silver, fine silver, enamel, garnets.
