About the Artist: Yuri Tozuka is a metalsmith born and raised in Nagoya, Japan, and currentlyworks and lives in Boston, Massachusetts. Since she was little, her favoritebooks were always encyclopedias of living things, and she would be excited byall the fantastical creatures that she saw in movies. She attended school to learnspecial effects makeup in Tokyo before moving to Boston, where she found herlove for metalsmithing and jewelry, and completed her BFA at MassachusettsCollege of Art and Design in 2009. She has since focused her work to explorethe invention and expression of nature and structures. She delves into thesethemes using hand fabrication as well as hand carved lost wax castingtechniques in precious metal. Her jewelry and sculptures have been exhibitedin galleries and institutions throughout the United States.
