Purple Wood Sorrel is a thick mound of assorted purples that love to grow in the woods around nice big trees. Leaves of three triangles in a deep, satiny purple with violet splashes in the middle are borne on thin lime stems.  When nice and full in a pot they make that thick mound and thinner plants resemble their nickname of butterfly Oxalis; a crowd of startled purple butterflies hovering over the pot. Either way a lovely sight! Folding up to sleep at night, another sighting of violet butterflies sleeping with folded wings. Delicate, lavender, five petaled flowers with lime green sketched lines in the centers put on a show often. Occasionally the Oxalis will go dormant; the plant may lose leaves only to resprout anew a month or so later. No need to water during its nap until you see the new little leaves.
