Ecuadorian Orange Blush Tamarillo
Cyphomandra betacea 'Orange Blush' Similar to the standard red Tamarillo but with a less tart more creamy orange filling. The coloring on this tamarillo has a camo pattern. We sourced our seeds from a fruit from Berkeley Bowl grocery store in Berkeley Ca as we had never tasted or seen one quite like it. This perennial egg-sized fruit makes for good eating, and is typically made into jams etc or made into a savory sauce. Easily grown from seed (also cuttings possible but not easy), it prefers a a frost free environment (or protection from frost). Otherwise grow in a large container and overwinter frost free. ***Purchase of this plant/tree pays for one tree to be planted in Southern Madagascar to fight desertification and to build food forests https://plantingjustice.org/plant-a-tree-in-southern-madagascar/ USDA Certified Organic Pot Size: 4inch pot Plant Size: 5 inch+ (thinned to two nice strong plants per pot) USDA Hardiness: 10a +, though we have it growing in 9b outside in a
