Autumn Joy Sedum

Bring beauty and joy to your garden with Sedum spectabile 'Autumn Joy', a showy stonecrop popular for its drought tolerance and attractive rosy-pink flowers that bloom from late summer through autumn. Autumn Joy Sedum is a clump-forming, herbaceous perennial with pale green succulent leaves arranged on upright, unbranched succulent stems. The fleshy foliage is oblong-shaped with slightly scalloped or toothed margins. In late summer, tiny pink star-shaped blooms appear in dense, flattened clusters. The flowers open as light pink and age to a rosy-pink color followed by russet-brown seed heads. Autumn Joy goes dormant in winter and the foliage dies back to the ground. The dried flower stalks can be left in place for the birds to eat the seeds during winter or can be cut back. This cold hardy cultivar has been reclassified as Hylotelephium spectabile ‘Autumn Joy’ but is still commonly referred to as Autumn Joy Sedum.
