FROM AI -  Rhopalostylis oceana is a name for the Chatham Islands population of the Nikau palm (Rhopalostylis sapida), known for its larger fronds and greater tolerance to full sun and colder temperatures compared to the mainland variety. While often referred to as a separate species, it is now more accurately classified as a variety of R. sapida that has adapted to its island environment. This palm has a slow but steady growth rate and is a popular choice for cultivation because of its hardiness.  Characteristics  Appearance: Features large, wide fronds and a trunk that develops rings from where old fronds have shed.
