Plimoth Grist Mill Organic Local Yellow Corn Sampe - 1.5 lb Bag
Plimoth Grist Mill’s Organic Local Yellow Corn Sampe is milled from organic corn, sourced from Granite Grains Farm in Amherst, New Hampshire. The corn is stone ground on antique millstones and, like the first grist mill built here in 1636, our waterwheel is powered by Plymouth’s Town Brook. Flavor and Preparation Our Sampe (grits) are bursting with flavor and nutrition. Slightly coarser than southern grits, they may take a few minutes longer to cook (45 minutes or so), but the wait is worth it. Or take a cue from southern cooks and soak the grits overnight to speed cooking time. Excellent served as porridge with milk and sugar as the Pilgrims did, or served southern-style with cheese melted in. Our Sampe is made from whole kernel corn and is milled in small batches between massive 200 year-old millstones. Our products contain the whole grain, the whole flavor, and all the nutrition. We recommend storing them in the refrigerator or freezer, where they’ll remain fresh for a year or more.
