Tomato, California Sungold
The open-pollinated Sungold is finally here!!!! We've been waiting for YEARS for this to happen. (Remember, an open-pollinated variety means that you can save the seeds and grow the exact same variety the following year and so on) This new open-pollinated version of the Sungold is just as sweet and fruity as the "classic". We'd like to call out this version is actually improved because its less prone to splitting/cracking. Clusters of bright orange cherry tomatoes form on vigorous, indeterminate plants early in the season - staking is recommended. We love the Florida weave method, but you do you. Tomatoes love full sun and well-draining, fertile soil. Add some worm castings or compost to the planting hole to help reduce transplant shock - we like to plant our tomatoes deeply, which encourages more roots to grow along the stem, creating a stronger root system and healthier plant. Mulch at the base helps retain soil moisture throughout the growing season. Great for containers! D
