Zucchini, Dark Star

If you're looking for a standard zucchini that's NOT hybrid (aka open pollinated aka you can save seeds and grow the SAME plant the next year!) and that's a baller on the courts...Say hello to the Dark Star Zucchini.  Obviously, she's dark and beautiful and we're all about that.  Uniform long, dark green, angular fruit that has vigorous root growth and also excels in dry farming conditions - in 2016-2018 variety trials with the Dry Farming Collective, this variety produced an average yield of 15 lbs per plant, in 9 different sites in Western Oregon.  Dark Star produces longer than other standard zukes and the quality of fruit is top notch.   Exceptional drought resistance AND resistance to powdery mildew.  If you're planting multiple zucchini plants in your garden, we recommend allowing 12-24" between each plant (due to their large sprawling habits).  Great opportunity to stick a companion plant in between, or plant a Three Sisters Garden!   Days to Maturity: 50 - 55 Companion Plants
