The scarlet red flower spikes open over a period of weeks to adorn this open and airy sage.   Attractive to their namesake hummingbirds, these are excellent insectary and nectar plants.  They are a late season bloomer but that's one of the things we love most about it - those bright red blooms when everything else is starting to die down.   Texas Hummingbird Sage grows to 2-3' and thrives in full sun with well-draining soil.  Drought tolerant once established.  We've pinched the seedlings to encourage branching (yay!).   Days to Maturity: 75 Companion Plants: Calendula, Chives, Rosemary, Sage, Thyme, Yarrow Hardy Annual, Open Pollinated (OP) Plant Spacing: 12 - 18"   Photo Credit: Kristen Kadow, Uprising Seeds, Jess Page
