'Yakimono' means 'fired thing' in Japanese and is also a term used to refer to pottery. This series of cups is inspired by my trip to Mashiko in summer this year. Mashiko is a pottery town in Japan where many potters live and create pottery. The beautiful handmade works rekindled my love for the craft. When staying at my friend Hiki's traditional Japanese home, I was served coffee in a very petite handmade cup and it was such a lovely experience. I hope to share that magical moment through this series when you enjoy your beverage of your choice in this cup. One of a kind. Each cup in this series is carefully handpinched and sculpted from speckled clay in a warm, natural tan. This cup can hold approx. 100ml of liquid.
