Lotus Plant Description Purple Gold Lotus is a lovely lotus with lotus flowers in shades of pink with subtle, violet-purple overtones. Lotus Planting Instructions Plant your lotus tuber in a wide, shallow, no holes container (14 - 48 inches wide). Using loam soil, fill your container 2/3 full. Dig a shallow trench across the surface of the soil and gently place your lotus tuber in the trench. Cover all but the growth tips with an inch or two of soil, leaving the growth tips exposed.
