Panchakarma
Honoring India’s ancient Vedic cleansing practice of healing, Panchakarma is a journey of discovery, balancing, and awakening of your energies and senses. Panchakarma, meaning “5 actions,” is a set of five cleansing, detoxifying treatments that balance excess doshas and rejuvenate the whole body. The five actions of Panchakarma are Abhyanga (oil massages done as preparatory treatments), Inner Oiling (done through the ingestion of ghee to lubricate the body and prepare it for the following actions), Virechana (purgation), Vasti (enema treatment with herbal oils or decoctions), and Nasya (nasal passage lubrication). It is preceded by a preparatory process called Poorvakarma. At this stage, the body is prepared for removing “toxins” first through Snehanam, which makes the body oily internally and externally, and second through Swedanam, which means therapeutic sweating.
