However, not only soldiers, volunteers and ordinary citizens showed their qualities in this war, but also animals, which literally became its symbols.Patron, a 2.5-year-old white-and-red dog of the Jack Russell Terrier breed, serves in the division of the State Emergency Service of the Chernihiv region and is involved in mine clearing.The owner of the Patron is Mikhail Ilyev, head of the pyrotechnic control group of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Chernihiv region. In 2020, he gave a puppy to his son, and it was originally planned that the pet would be brought up to participate in exhibitions.However, already at the age of six months, Patron showed the ability of a search dog, and Mikhail began to take him on missions and gradually taught him to recognize explosives by smell
