The German text reads "OURY JALLOH / THAT WAS MURDER! / MURDERED 7TH JANUARY 2005 / BY THE POLICE IN DESSAU / GERMANY". Born in Sierra Leone, Oury Jalloh applied for political asylum in Germany from the Sierra Leonean Civil War. He was arrested on January 7th, 2005, and after revealing a BAC of 0.3% and cocaine usage, he was handcuffed by his wrists and ankles to a bed inside of a jail cell. Police officers at the station claimed that an officer had turned off an active fire alarm twice, only going to investigate after a third, different alarm played.
