Reproduction of original vintage poster for Chicago Elevated Rail Lines from the 1920's depicting the Art Institute of Chicago. Small Format.   This poster - created to promote travel on the Elevated lines by Elmes - depicts the two bronze lions that flank the Michigan Avenue entrance of the Art Institute's opening at its current location in 1893. They have unofficial "names," which were given by their sculptor Edward Kemeys that are more like designations. The lions are not identical, and thus are named for their poses: The south lion "stands in an attitude of defiance," while the north lion is "on the prowl."   Image size ~12" x 23" inches  A numbered edition giclée of 1,000.
