Complaints

The complaint is often the first filing—and the first opportunity—in a litigation. For plaintiffs, the complaint offers the first opportunity to present their story of the case. For defendants, the complaint offers the first opportunity to stop the litigation in its tracks. Junior associates who understand the complaint and its significance will be better equipped to assist their teams throughout the litigation lifecycle, regardless of which side they represent. This course teaches the typical structure and components of complaints; the process for filing, serving, and modifying complaints; and the utility of the complaint as a roadmap to guide the junior’s other tasks.
