Organic Juniper Berry Essential Oil
This low-growing member of the pine family is famous in health communities for diuretic properties and for calming the nerves. It’s been shown to contract the smooth muscles in the body, and reportedly both the Zuni (a Native American tribe) and the Mongols used the berries to assist during childbirths. The Egyptians used it as a laxative, and other Native American groups used it for infections, arthritis, and general wound care. Of course, in many communities its fame is more spirited, as it provides the distinctive flavoring to gin. In fact, the word gin is derived from the Dutch term for juniper.
