.243 Win Standard Rifle - 1959
This is a .243 Winchester standard rifle produced in 1959 with all factory-original finishes and parts. The .243 Winchester cartridge was the third most common chambering in the pre-1964 model 70 line (43,618 rifles were chambered for the cartridge, 7.5% of total production) but only 6,812 of these were produced in the standard rifle configuration; the rest were Featherweights. This means only a little over 1% of total production was in this configuration, making the .243 Win standard rifle relatively uncommon. The metal is in very good to excellent condition. There is some light edge wear and a few very small scratches but no other notable metal damage. The bore of the 24" barrel has some throat wear and heat crackling near the chamber, and some scattered pitting, but still retaining sharp rifling. We grade the bore a 6 out of 10. All parts appear original and correct for the rifle. The bolt is correct and serial number matched to the receiver. There are no modifications or repairs.
