Locate leaks acoustically with the LD-8 Leak Detector The LD-8 water leak detector is designed with water leak surveys in mind. It is the perfect device for municipal water systems managers and private contractors looking for unaccounted for water losses on a system-wide basis. The LD-8 is designed as a rod-based acoustic listening device for water leaks at hydrants, meters, and valves. A metal contact rod is attached to the base of the amplifier which transmits any leak noises received into the headphones worn by the operator. The louder the sound, the closer the listening point is to the leak location. Digital Screen: more accurate readings The LD-8 amplifier has a digital screen that displays a two-digit loudness reading so you can tell when you are closing in on the leak. The device has a push button ON/OFF switch, volume control and three-range sensitivity switch. Filter out unwanted signals The LD-8 amplifier has notch filters reduce the hum from transformers, power lines, and other background noises allowing you to concentrate only on the sound of leaks.
