"The Attack: From Shattered to Whole" is a memoir that begins in 1984 when I was beaten nearly to death with a glass bottle and raped by a violent psychopath who had broken into my house. It was deeply traumatic on every level, and I buried most of the emotions and denied being raped for nineteen years until a series of surreal, intense flashbacks forced me to face the truth. Using self-hypnosis, I uncovered my darkest secrets, and as one story led to the next, I could see how the attack influenced my choices and ultimately led to the best things in my life including my daughter, my artwork, Reiki, and becoming the artist, Primal Painter. This was a personal healing exercise written in the form of a raw, uncensored diary, but if sharing my story can help others see that even extreme trauma can end in gratitude, the attack will serve a higher purpose.
