Beginning in the late 1940's Matisse worked intensively with scissors and painted paper, cutting vividly colored sheets into myriad shapes, from botanical to abstract, arranging them in lively compositions. He famously described his process as "drawing with scissors," and the works that resulted came to be know as Cut-Outs. This book, published in conjunction with the most comprehensive exhibition ever devoted to this body of  work at MOMA, presents a reconsideration of the cut-outs and is extensively illustrated to capture their vibrant presence.
