This is high quality UL listed cable, it's pure copper and not copper-clad. CAT5e is composed of 4 pairs of wires and is extremely reliable, this cable is what they call UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) cable, it means that the cable itself does not have any special shielding however the twisting of the wires greatly improves the resistance in the cable from outside interference. The main advantage to CAT5e is the fact that each one of the pairs of wires can be used for something different. In the security industry typically a few of the pairs are used for the Cameras data (image) while another can handle powering the camera through the use of POE.
