This continuing education course will instruct propane cylinder fillers on how to identify the various sizes, cylinder valves, connectors, construction specifics, and common usage of Department of Transportation "DOT" propane cylinders. It is also important for the operator to know how to inspect the cylinders before filling. The types of cylinders discussed include domestic use, motor fuel forklift tanks, cylinders for industrial applications, and a variety of other purposes. All DOT cylinders transported on public roadways must be filled by their weight and volume, and this course instructs on the important methods to ensure the container has been properly filled. The course also covers safety precautions, personal protection equipment, leak identification, and leak mitigation as well as the required DOT transportation requirements.
