When I first started using the Stained Glass Fingering yarn base, I loved the idea of creating a collection of butterfly colorways using it, and I finally did it! I used an Indian Jezebel butterfly as the inspiration for this colorway. I included a photo of this beautiful butterfly. The top of the wings are all white, and the outsides are a combination of white, black, yellow, and orange. I dyed it with assigned pooling in mind, so one-quarter of the skein is the yellow and orange while the rest remains the undyed white with black of Stained Glass Fingering. YARN BASEStained Glass Fingering is a soft and squishy 2-ply yarn made of 80% superwash merino and 20% nylon. The thing that makes Stained Glass Fingering uniquely wonderful is that one ply is made of white wool while the other alternates between black and white, so when I dye the yarn, it looks like leaded stained glass--or in this case the black lines in butterflies' wings. Each 100 gram skein has 400 yards. YARN FACTSIndian Jeze
