JONES' LES VENDEUSES DE TISSUE Hand Dyed on Twinkle Fingering - Block Variegated Yarn
This colorway was inspired by a painting of Lois Mailou Jones called Les Vendeuses de Tissue. I left the title in the original French, but it simply means the fabric sellers. Jones was an amazing artist who painted from early childhood until she was in her 90s. She moved to Paris in the 1930s and later married a Haitian artist. She spent many years living in Haiti and painting scenes of everyday life there like this one. This was my club colorway back in March 2021, and I absolutely adore the vibrant colors! YARN BASEI dyed this on my Twinkle Fingering yarn base, which is made of 90% superwash merino and 10% sparkly lurex. It's a 2-ply yarn that's great for shawls, cowls, sweaters, and more. I would not recommend it for everyday socks.
