001 Peony Vase with Blue Leaves

This Floral Vase was made on the potters wheel using a translucent bright-white porcelain.  This means that where the clay is carved thin, light passes through.  I carved the flowers by hand, took away clay below the flowers, and glazed it with a crackly aqua and clear.  This piece holds water up to the lowest pierced flower petal. With the addition of a candle, this piece will cast a cascade of romantic shadows of petals and leaves.    Approximately 5 inches wide x 7 inches tall
