Mianture Seed Pot with Lizard by Carolyn Concho, Acoma Puebloclay, pigment1" high x 1 3/4" diameter Carolyn Concho is an Acoma potter who was born in 1961 and has been actively creating pottery since 1984. Carolyn makes traditional and contemporary seedpots, jars, bowls and miniatures, working in both polychrome and black on white designs. She is the granddaughter of Toribio and Dolores Sanchez, and the daughter of Katherine and Edward Lewis. From her earliest years working with her grandmother, Carolyn developed a strong interest in the design and painting of pottery. Today, painting remains her favorite part of the process. Carolyn and her sisters still use the hand-coiled method for their pottery and have become known for the variety of their clay-based earth hues. She has won numerous awards, including 1st, 2nd and 3rd places at the Santa Fe Indian Market, the Heard Museum Show, and Inter-tribal Indian Ceremonial in Gallup, New Mexico.  Ms. Concho’s work was also recognized in the
