Thunderbird Model Totem, 2006by Erich Glendale, Kwakwaka'wakw First Nationyellow cedar16" high x 5" wide x 5" deep Erich Glendale is a member of the Kwakwaka'wakw nation. Born in Campbell River in 1972 but his roots stem from Knights Inlet. Erich now resides in Port Alberni B.C.  and began carving  northwest coast native art in 1990. Yellow cedar has always been his preference but he also works with red cedar. Rattles, masks, sculptures, bowls, small totem poles, panels, and talking sticks are the types of wood carvings that erich has carved over the years. In 2006 he also began engraving silver and gold. Native art  rings, pendants, and bracelets are the type of jewelry he has learned to create with the help and guidance of Nuu-chah-nulth artist Gordon Dick.
