Prunus persica 'Betty' A sweet, flavorful, and split pit-resistant peach was found as a seedling near Ferndale in Western Washington and was tested at the WSU Mt. Vernon Station. It is self fertile and ripens late in the season, at the end of August for us here in Western WA. It has a deeper color than the variety Frost and is more productive. Betty has firm, semi-freestone fruit of excellent quality for making preserves, freezing, or enjoying fresh off the tree. Does not show much resistance to peach leaf curl. Late bloomer.
